Universities that can register for Academic Bank of Credits under NEP2020 – Latest Updates

In the latest update via a notification dated 29 July 2021, UGC has prescribed the eligibility criteria for Higher Educational Institutions to register with the Academic Bank of Credits. 

The eligible Higher Education Institutions are:

  • The Universities and autonomous colleges that are accredited by any of the following bodies:
    • National Assessment and Accreditation Council
      • Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council with minimum ‘A’ Grade.
    • National Board of Accreditation
      • Accredited by National  Board of Accreditation for atleast three programme (s) having a minimum score of 675  individually. But, if the number of programme (s) run by the institution is less than 3, then each programme should have a score of 675 or above.
    • Top 100 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) or similar assessment and accreditation bodies
      • Accredited by Top 100 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) or similar assessment and accreditation bodies that are established by the Government of India from time to time.
  • Indian Higher Education Institutions that appear in top 1000 world ranking of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)/Times Higher Education (THE).
  • Institutions of Eminence or Institutions of National Importance as declared by the Government of India.

The institutions that qualify either of the eligibility criteria mentioned above are qualified to register with the Academic Bank of Credits.
